We currently collect trash from households with a UNHABITAT designed and recommended mini tractor and trailer. This machine is specifically designed to go through the narrow estate pathways efficiently and is a high fuel saver. It has detachable bins that make the collection process very easy with a stand at the back for collectors. The tractor was donated to us by NDUME agricultural machinery ltd through their corporate social responsibility with UNHABITAT monitoring its performance and sustainability through our project.

Annual Clean up exercises

Pembroke School Gilgil has been our partner in sponsoring Gilgil annual clean up exercises. Other partners include National Youth Service, Equity bank, KCB and Barclays bank. We have done this with students both in primary and secondary schools and this exercise has been important in raising awareness within the town in keeping our environment clean.

The County Council of Nakuru has supported all our efforts of cleaning up the town and subsequently allowed us to offer solid waste management services to the residents of the town. National Environment Management Authority has also been instrumental in advising us in sound environmental management practices in accordance to the set out policies. Ministry of Youth affairs have assisted us coordinate youth forums and activities within the district.

RSSAF has partnered with us to implement a project that aims to improve the sanitation standards of our town by incorporating youths and school children who will advocate for sound waste management practices to the community. Through their support we have been able to mount communal bins, train youths in the town in solid waste management and form eco clubs in various public schools and use them to raise community awareness to stop indiscriminate littering.
